GRADUATION & LAMP LIGHTING CEREMONY


The graduation ceremony for the 9th batch of DMLT, 6th batch of Optometry and Lamp Lighting Ceremony for the 8th batch of GNM students was held on 18th February 2017 from 3.00 pm to 05.30 pm in Fatima School campus. The Chief Guest of the day was GP Capt. Dr. Pauline Babu, Commanding Officer, Airforce, and Gorakhpur. 40 graduates, Novice Nightingales, their guests and other invitees brought a grandeur atmosphere to the programme. The ceremony began with an academic procession with the Chief Guest, Bishops, Director, Principal, Tutors and Asst. Professors of Fatima Institute of Medical Sciences, Gorakhpur.
The programme started with an invocation by the students and lamp lighting by esteemed dignitaries, GP Capt. Dr. Pauline Babu, Bp. Thomas Thuruthimattam, Bishop of the Diocese of Gorakhpur, Bp. Dominic Kokkat, Fr. Sabu P.L., Director, Fatima Hospital, Sr. Asha, Administrator, Dr. Vinay Sinha, Medical Superintend, Fatima Hospital, Sr. Ciji Joseph, Principal, and Sr. Remya, Incharge of DMLT and Optometry. Fr. Sabu welcomed the gathering. Sr. Ciji presented the Annual Report of the college.
First year B.Sc. Nursing students lit the lamp by symbolic of entry into the


sacred field of Nursing. The oath was administered by Sr. Ciji, Principal, FIMS.
Later graduates took their pledge to fulfill the expectations of their studies and they were awarded degree certificates.
Bp. Thomas Thuruthimattam in his speech congratulated the students and stressed on the importance of nursing profession in patient care. Dr. Pauline Babu, Chief Guest congratulated the graduates and New Nightingales and highlighted the quality of Nursing education and etiquette to become a noble Nurse in her speech.


Students performed various programmes which added more colour to the function. The programme got ended with the National Anthem.
